Sunday DriveSlow Down for Romance and FunSunday drive along the slow back roads. Fun stuff. As most people know, Sunday drivers are those people who drive annoyingly slow when everyone else seems to be in a terrible hurry. If you want to make this a fun date, keep yourself to the slow back roads where you'll hardly see another car, and do it on a Sunday where there are less cars on the road. If you're anything like me you enjoy the country but you're not fortunate enough to live there... you'll enjoy this creative, romantic date idea. I find it very relaxing and even romantic to drive at a snails pace, often stopping long the way to see the sights on slow back roads. My wife is the co-pilot and expert spotter of cool things to see, and I drive by inspiration alone, never a map, and we never get lost.  I always have my camera with me no matter what so it's a sure thing that I will have it around my neck, on my lap, or my wife will be holding it as we go for our Sunday drive. We've seen quite a few inspiring sights on our drives.We've pulled over and watched a herd of deer (at least 30 of them) cross the road maybe fifty yards ahead of us. We've seen cows, deer, horses, llamas, peacocks, pheasants, hawks, all types of birds, and a few unidentifiable animals as well. We enjoy rolling wooded areas most but also enjoy the open fields and farm areas. We will almost always have discussions about our next house and the type of area we'd like to live in. We often drive silently, slowly enjoying the beauty all around us. We like to look at houses. This idea is best when preceded by or ends up with a stop for ice cream. If you're concerned about the price of gas... Let's do the math. Say your Sunday drive is 50 miles in a vehicle that gets 10 miles per gallon. At today's prices, $1.91 per gallon on March 12, 2009, that's $9.55 for a few relaxing hours. Add a few more dollars if you want to stop for ice cream along the way.
