Star gazing can be a very romantic evening even if you know nothing about stars. A warm, clear evening, a blanket to lay on, and some open sky in a dark area are all you need. This romantic date idea might be even better with a slightly cool evening and a blanket to wrap yourselves in, together.
Before you head out, go online and find out what stars are in your sky that night so you know where to look and what to look for.
If you know someone who has a telescope this might be even better as long as you don't have to spend the night fumbling around trying to figure out how to use it.
For a great source of information on astronomy I enjoy the PBS show Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer. If you want to know what is going to be in your night sky, plus how and where to look, you can find info on Sky and Telescope.
You Can Make This Romantic Date Idea Work And See Her Eyes Twinkle Like The Stars
Pick a night with a clear, dark night sky away from lights
If you are a "story teller", go online before the date and get yourself a chart on what is going to be in your night sky, plus how and where to identify it. You can find some background info on the specific constellations you are likely to see and dazzle your date with your knowledge of the night sky.
Bring a blanket to lay on and/or to cuddle under
Don't forget a small flashlight, bug repellent, and (if you like) some refreshments.
You could combine this idea with a picnic and have yourself a romantic date night time picnic combined with a watching the sky.
Romantic, creative, and fun.
