You date with speed, only you don't just date someone, you date a lot of someones, a few minutes at a time, all in one night. The idea is to get a quick first impression of many different potential dates. It's normal to complete some sort of advance registration and pay a fee to attend an event. At the end of each short date the organizer signals the participants to move on to the next date. At the end of the event participants submit to the organizers a list of who they liked. If there is a match, contact information is exchanged and from there it's up to the newly matched couple to make the most of it. Contact information is not traded during the speed dating event.Originally organized as a way to help Jewish singles meet and marry, there are now many different types of events which focus on a niche groups of daters. Groups range from traditional men and women events to gays and lesbians, older men with younger women, younger men with older women, specific religions, ethnic groups, specialized interests, and more. I think this is a good way to meet lots of people in a short time while someone else does the leg work of matching you up with other people with similar interests.
