Scavenger Hunt
Finding Fun on a Date
Scavenger hunt as a date idea is perfect for those lazy days when there is nothing to do and you need to kick start some fun. Once you get started the fun becomes infectious. You and your date can head out and challenge each other, or for more fun form teams (couples) who will each head out with a copy of your list and meet at an appointed time to declare the winner.
I've prepared a list of some common items I believe you will find in almost any modern town or city anywhere in the world.
You can make copies of the list here or use it as a template to make up your own list of items to go find and/or photograph.
Have fun together searching for romance around the house or around town For your own list, meet with your special someone or a group of friends and make up your own list over cocktails.
You can pick a theme like items of a certain color, outdoor, indoor, or whatever fun idea you come up with. Then head out (don't drink then drive) and scour your area for your treasures.
Everyone Wins
If you are good at advance planning you can personalize this idea by making up your own list of items/places for your date to find.
Personalize it more by hiding messages or small gifts or trinkets for your date to find at each location.
You can also add a GPS device and turn this into your own private geocache scavenger hunt. Check the geocaching page for more ideas on using a GPS device to turn this into a high tech adventure.
Here is a list of ideas. You and your date can head out and see how long it takes you to find and/or photograph every item on the list...
Items to Find/Photograph Outside
| Statue | Police car | Fire truck | | School bus | Gas pump | Dog | | Stop sign | Yellow flower | Apple | | Bird | Fire hydrant | Your Country flag |
Items to Find/Photograph Inside
| Telephone | Ash tray | Coffee cup | | Cash register | Shopping cart | Pack of gum | | Postage stamp | Paper clip | Gallon of milk | | Screw driver | Paper clip | Candle |
Options You Can Try
Take a camera or camera phone and take a picture of yourself with each item on the list
Get together with other couples and have a group hunt. Meet for drinks or a meal at a set time to compare notes and see who found the most items
Do some advance planning and create your own scavenger hunt for your date complete with personalized messages at each location
If you know each other well, make a list that has more intimate items to find, all leading to your own intimate evening and you share your discoveries. The most important thing you can do to make this a good date idea is to just have fun!
