Photo Shoot
Smile For Romance
Photo shoot as a creative date idea involves finding a photographer to follow you and your partner taking pictures. You can sit for portraits or go for candid shots. If you're into photography you can do this yourself. The idea is to get some romantic, fun, creative, and wacky pictures of both of you together.
You're looking to create good memories. Suggesting you have your pictures taken together really is a great romantic date idea.
My personal favorite for making this photo shoot date idea work are outdoor candid shots that you don't have to stop and pose for. They are taken while you are acting naturally, like while you're on a fun date.
All you have to do is have fun Those kinds of pictures usually reflect your true personality and they capture a moment of some fun activity instead of just a picture you have to sit still to capture. Candid shots allow you to get fun with your date, smile, laugh, and let your personalities shine as a couple.
Create Lasting Memories
You can combine this photo shoot idea with one of the romantic, fun, or creative date ideas you'll find on this website. You'll feel like a star as a photographer follows your every move. You should call ahead and get permissions if you want to be inside private businesses. Most any outdoor activities are well suited for this idea, and you don't need anyone's permission. Try one of these or just head outside and start shooting...
Location Ideas: Downtown in the city
Historic areas
Parks
Recreation areas
River side/Lake side
Outdoor Date Ideas: Go to the beach and build sand castles
Go to the zoo
Pick your own fruit/veggies
Go to a festival/fair
Go to a carnival/amusement park
Miniature golf
Ice skating/roller skating
Go to a playground and play
Have a water balloon fight
All these locations and outdoor ideas are great if done on a sunny day. Even better, try a bright but overcast day that will make the shadows less harsh and the good lighting conditions will produce great quality photos.
Set up a tripod and do it yourself Your photographer should be able to tell you the best times to be outside depending on the types of photos you'll take.
Free Pictures
You might be able to negotiate free photos with a photographer willing to take your pictures for free in exchange for being able to add your photos to their portfolio.
With the quality of pictures coming from digital cameras now comparable to film, the photographer no longer has to spend money in advance on film. All they need is a good digital camera which will usually have a memory card to hold plenty of pictures.
This idea may mean your pictures belong to the photographer depending on the arrangement you make so think carefully about this photo shoot option.
There are photography students and enthusiasts everywhere. You could call around and ask if anyone is willing. If there is a school in the area, even a high school, you might find a talented student willing to work with you. You could also place an advertisement online and you might find someone very willing.
Capture the feel of a special location Even if you can't get them free, it may not be too expensive to pay someone for their time and expertise if you're getting 100 or more photos to choose from.
Call around and ask what the going rate is per hour for someone to follow you during a specific activity and photograph you. Also ask about how many pictures you're going to get, what do you do (re-shoot?) if none of them turn out, and who owns them once the photo shoot is done. Also find out how they will be delivered to you; disk, memory card, posted online, etc.
If you provided the memory card they can be in your pocket the second the shoot is done. You then take the card home and load them on your computer. Once you pick what you like you can bring them to any instant photo lab for printing.
Photo Studio
You can also go to a photo studio (like you sometimes find in the mall) for an indoor photo shoot. Posing for pictures can be nice if you have a good idea ahead of time of what you want.
This type of place will sit you, pose you, and take a limited number of shots that you get to pick from. Before you sign on the dotted line for photos be sure to read everything carefully. You might just want to ask them if the photos become yours to copy as you wish or if they retain ownership and copies must be purchased through them.
Create lasting memories with a romantic photo shoot It used to be when you sat for photos at one of those "in store" photo services (sears, etc) they owned your photos and you can't get copies unless you purchase them through them. I've done studio photos before and I was not informed ahead of time about this policy. I personally want to own my pictures to copy or distribute as I choose.
Do It Yourself
Do you have a decent digital camera? I'm not talking about a camera phone. You'll need something better than that. If you have your own digital camera and you know a little about taking pictures you can probably have some fun with this idea yourself.
You and your date head out to a park or even the back yard and start snapping away. Get yourself a tripod and use the timer function on most cameras and you can take some together shots as well.
I take shots of myself and my wife all the time just holding the camera at arms length.
No matter which way you work this photo shoot idea you will have some fun, creative, and romantic memories to show for it.
