Matchmakers

Make Me A Match

Matchmakers are still out there. Lots of them actually. I've found estimates of between 400 and 1500 of them in the USA, and that number grows every year. For a fee they will work to find you the perfect match, traditionally a potential marriage partner. This seems a little more serious than just finding a date, though there are some who do find just dates. If you have the money or lack the time this can be a viable option to finding your special someone.

Matchmaking has been around for centuries. There is evidence of them in many cultures around the globe, and even here in the USA as recently as 1960. As a profession, there are some people making significant income providing services to executives and others who don't have time to play the dating game.

MatchmakersFees vary according to how the services are set up. Some offer memberships with a guaranteed number of introductions. Most charge a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, and occasionally more than $100,000 for a national search.

I have seen some that advertise fees, depending on the services required, that top a half million dollars! I'm not saying they all charge this much but they (the matchmaking industry) say you pretty much get what you pay for so I would expect this service to cost more than other dating services.

I would expect there to be some extensive one-on-one time with someone who will gather all your wants and hopes and desires and package them all in a nice neat profile to present to prospects. As with anything though, there is never a guarantee that you'll be any more or less compatible with a match any service provides than that stranger across the room you were too scared to go meet. If you're too busy to look yourself and you have money to pay someone to do the work, this can be a good offline dating option.
