Hot Air Balloon Ride

A hot air balloon ride at sunrise or sunset with your special someone is a very Romantic, Creative, and Fun date idea.

The more I look into this romantic date idea the more exciting the idea becomes. Everyone I know who has done this has nothing but good things to say about it. "You have to try it!" is the typical reaction. I have always planned on going up in a balloon, and this might be the year.

I have discovered that what you pay will vary greatly depending on where you are and what is included in the flight. One thing that doesn't vary are the views you'll enjoy. I've spent a lot of time viewing the pictures people take and I can hardly wait to get up there and make my own memories.

Up, up, and away!

You can take group flights where you join several others (strangers) or you can go all out and take a private flight for two, just you and your sweetheart (and a balloon pilot) for the ultimate high flying romantic date idea.

Flights generally last about an hour, and many of the flight operators include some nice extras like breakfast after the flight. Most of the places I looked at follow a tradition of a champagne toast when you land. Sounds good to me!

Here in Michigan I'm about 30 minutes away from sunset flights along the Lake Michigan shoreline. We have many launch sites just a short drive away, and for $200.00 per person we can enjoy an hour sunset flight with champagne toast afterward.

In California you can take group flights for about $140 per person which includes champagne as you fly. You can also take a private sunrise or sunset flight for 2 over vineyards and wineries of Southern California. Expect to pay between $640 to $925 for a 1 hour flight. This might be something you save up to do together, which is a pretty romantic idea itself.

In New York you can soar over the Hudson Valley, over rolling green hills, farms, small towns, lakes, streams, and plenty of wildlife for about $275 each. A one hour flight includes champagne toast and photo, plus breakfast on morning flights.

Colorado offers the South Park Valley located high in the Central Rockies for $225 per person. A one hour flight includes champagne toast and breakfast.

Melbourne, Australia has the Yarra Valley for $260 per person or take a private flight for $2,500. Wow. There's even a dinner, bed, balloon, and breakfast package deal for $375 per person. I've always wanted to get to Australia, and now I know what I'd enjoy doing when I get there.

In Canada one company has 12 flight locations across the country. The Vancouver, British Columbia flight is around $225 per person for a one hour flight, sunrise or sunset, with a champagne toast when you land.

You can find over 100 launch sites throughout England, Scotland, and Wales. Don't forget Italy, Japan, New Zealand, and many other locations around the globe.

A hot air balloon ride is a very nice romantic, creative, and fun date idea as long as you aren't afraid of heights or getting up early in the morning for the sunrise flight.
