Game night isn't just for family fun - this is a perfect date idea when you want to stay in, when the weather isn't cooperating, or when you are low on funds. The number of games you can play is almost unlimited, but I'm going to suggest you find a game that leads to a fun, playful night. You want to focus on lots of laughs and have no concern for who wins.
Puzzles are nice, but not exactly fun and playful. Save the puzzle for a night when you want a quiet evening. I like the idea of playing games that are easy to learn and don't require much thinking or skill. Kids games are perfect for this. They were fun when you played them as a kid they can be fun as an adult as long as you play to JUST HAVE FUN! I'm 48 years old and I still love these games!
Making game night fun...
♥ Refreshments
Obviously you want to have what your date will enjoy, but that doesn't mean you can't do something different. Even better than a bag of chips and a can of soda, I like the idea of fun finger foods like the appetizers they serve at restaurants and bars.
Nachos
Shrimp cocktail
Potato skins
Egg rolls
The list is endless and you can buy them pre-made (heat and eat) or order them to go from your favorite restaurant.
Don't forget drinks. How about mixing up margaritas or other fruity, fun drink! If it's a cold winter night, maybe hot chocolate would be nice.
♥ Games
This isn't a competition. You're playing to have fun and enjoy each others company. That's why I think kids games are the perfect for a game night date. Some of my old favorites...
Candy Land
The Game of Life
Sorry!
Don't Break the Ice
Mouse Trap
Chutes and Ladders
Connect Four
Other games to play when you're staying in include video games, pool, cards, marbles, darts, foosball... it really doesn't matter what you play as long as it's fun!
