First Date Tips...

• Don't get too serious too soon. The first date is not the time to talk about your last girlfriend, how many kids you want or don't want, or how much you hate your job, car, mother, government, life, etc. Remember, the first date idea is supposed to be fun and interesting. If you have time to sit around and talk about all this stuff you may have let the date go on too long and should consider calling it a night.
  
  
  
• Leave the cell phone alone! Taking calls, checking messages, or sending text messages to your buddies does not make you fun or interesting. Turn off the phone or at least silence it and pretend it doesn't exist. If you must check it simply excuse yourself to the men's room and check it out of sight.
  
  
  
• The way it usually works is if you ask her out you pay. Of course there is no set rule that says you have to pay. However, unless something specific is agreed in advance that says you aren't paying you should be ready to pay. Whatever you do, be prepared.
  
  
  
• A better first date option (than having to worry about who pays) in my opinion would be to go on a date that doesn't involve much, if any, money. If you want to make a good first impression it will be about you, not where you go or how much you spend. If it's a great expensive restaurant it will become memorable with good company. Then again it will become a forgotten memory if they feel no connection to you. The same will be true if you spend little or no money on the first date.
  
  
  
• Stay focused on your date. That means you aren't checking out the girl or guy across the bar or in the next lane. That means you aren't looking at the television for the scores even if the game is on. Stay focused on your date. No matter what is going on around you, your only focus on a date is your date.
  
  
  
• One thing you should not forget - things may not work out the way you want them to. Not everyone is a good match. If the date isn't going well and you don't see that it will improve you should just call it a night. Don't lie or make excuses. Don't be mean or rude. If you are unable to just enjoy each others company for whatever reason there is no need to delay the inevitable. Just call it a night and be done with it. Sometimes things just don't work out. You can't force something to work. Give it your best and if that doesn't work, move on.
