Date Night At Home
A Night To Remember!
Date night at home - with a little planning this can be just as fun and even more romantic than going out. Home, they say, is where the heart is. The familiar territory of home is where you should be the most comfortable and feel the greatest sense of security. Here is how you can turn your familiar home space into the best place for date night.
The key to a successful date night at home is a little planning and building up the anticipation. The planning is the easy part. Take some of the ideas below and add your own ideas to make this a special night. You, and what you put into it, are what will make any date special.
Home is where the heart is Everyone loves something to look forward to. Waiting for your special night to arrive builds the excitement and anticipation.
It doesn't matter how long you've been together, begin at least a few days in advance by asking your special someone for a date.
Tell them it will be a special date night at home. Tell them to be ready for fun and romance. Let them wonder what it's all about. Build the suspense, then follow through with a special night they will never forget.
It doesn't have to be a weekend or Friday night, but it helps when you don't have to get up early the next day to work. If you have kids, find a trusted friend or family member who can take your kids overnight and into the next afternoon. That will give you the entire night and the next morning. Think about sleeping in and/or breakfast in bed or both!
A Night To Remember
Begin your date night at home by creating a romantic setting. Take some time to clean up your place and make it look nice. Hire someone if you must. If you're feeling ambitious you can rearrange the furniture and give it a new look and feel.
Part of looking and feeling romantic is scent and sound. Don't forget scented candles or other aromatherapy scents, his or her favorite, to fill the house. Add soft music in the background to complete the romantic atmosphere.
Unplug the phone. Turn off the cell phone. Hide the television in a closet or someplace you won't be tempted to turn it on - the only exception is if you plan to watch movies together.
If you enjoy cooking, prepare their favorites. Even better, order take out from your favorite restaurant. Even gourmet restaurants offer take out these days. Eat light and think about "finger foods" so you can feed each other and truly share a meal.
You could even hire someone to come to your house, prepare and serve a delicious and romantic meal and clean up before leaving you to enjoy the rest of the night alone.
I don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy a relaxing neck and shoulder rub. A bottle of scented massage oil, a warm room, and about 15 minutes is all it takes. All you want to do is help them to relax. This will often lead to a more intimate, romantic night so you'll have to decide if you want to start or end your evening this way.
You may think its kind of cheesy, but couples games are a great way to move your date night at home toward a steamy, intimate evening. If you play, just have fun and let it lead you to whatever it leads you to.
If you don't often get time alone a romantic movie while you snuggle under a blanket on the couch may be just what you need to relax and just be close. Don't be surprised though if you fall asleep. Maybe you should save this to end the evening.
Do you have a bath tub? Share a warm bath with scented beads by candle light. Sipping wine or just relaxing together, this can be a great way to start or end the evening.
Breakfast in bed the next morning can be simple, delicious, and a special treat, especially for mom's who are usually the ones caring for others. Croissants, fruits, juices, coffee, or even mimosas (champagne and orange juice) will be a great start to the day after a romantic evening. Everything can be picked up in advance so all you'll need is a few minutes in the morning and a nice serving tray. Let these ideas inspire your own ideas to turn your date night at home into a night to remember.
